Galileo and Covia to Merge

United Airlines announced on March 5 that it will be merging its Covia reservations system with the Galileo system owned by a partnership of European airlines. The resulting operation will create the world's largest computerized reservations system. The new Galileo International will be based in Chicago, Illinois which is the headquarters of Covia, and control of the new group will be managed by Covia's chief executive Allen Loren.
